Sustainable agriculture has gained acceptance as a conceptual approach for shaping farming system of the future. Sustainability in agricultural systems addresses about many wider dimensions of ecological security, economic efficiency and social equity. A small area faces wide inequality, improper management and overexploitation of natural resources and explosion of population. These have created a threat to ecological balance and economic as well as social status of households in the region. Sustainable Agriculture became a dominant global concern for livelihood improvement and environmental stability. This book describes the meaning of agricultural sustainability and sustainable development, methods for evaluating and policy implications for sustainable development of agricultural system in a micro region of Orissa.The policy of sustainable development in agriculture will influence producers, consumers, agribusiness people, traders, input suppliers, food processors and others for the successful management of natural resources.
